Our children were getting restless at the start of the summer holidays as the long, hot summer days drew endlessly ahead. Although our Rehab Center had a full schedule of activities to keep them busy, we decided to also use the opportunity for our other project staff to spend time with our children. We gave them the challenge of creating one activity of a few hours to bring their teams to conduct an activity as a team-building exercise.
So many of our projects rose to the challenge, coming up with a range of new activities for our 150+ children. While some used the expertise within their projects, others thought outside of the box. The result was an exciting range of activities. From our Operations team’s Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who wants to be a millionaire?), FBC team’s film festival and Fundraising team’s food and games bazaar to our Balbhavan and One-Stop center’s craft sessions, our children enjoyed the activities and opportunities to interact with staff they don’t see every day.
Our Childline team also raised awareness of good touch, bad touch, Manasgram addressed mental health and wellbeing, Snehadhar ran self-defence lessons, Radio Nagar did a storytelling session and our children also enjoyed a day in the countryside visiting our Himmatgram to learn more about cultivation.
Involving other projects in entertaining our children was a huge success. Not only was our Rehab Center team able to hand over this responsibility for a few hours each day, project teams were also able to enjoy a break from the office and hone their event planning skills. Our children also enjoyed new experiences and formed new connections beyond our gates.
