Our Angels: Suvarna

Updated: Jun 6, 2023

This International Nurses Day we are giving a big shout out to all the nurses taking care of our patients in our on-site Caring Friends Hospital & Research Center (CFHRC). Thank you for your care and dedication.

Our hospital provides subsidised healthcare to all and organises health camps in our local communities, if you would like to use our services please contact cfhrc@snehalaya.org.

Suvarna hails from a low-income family and grew up in an underprivileged community in Aurangabad. Her father was a daily wage worker and her mother was a housewife and the family faced several financial and academic challenges.

Due to a lack of money for medical treatment, her father died when she and her brother were tiny. This was a shock for her mother whose health was also poor. The family went to live with her maternal uncle but her mother remained worried about Suvarna and her brother’s futures.

When, a year later, her mother died, Suvarna’s uncle sent the orphans to Snehalaya. Suvarna was in 8th std and we sent her to our local Sun Pharma school. Although she was traumatized, she completed her 12th Std education and ANM nursing course with her focus on creating a future that would allow her to support her brother. With guidance from Dr Parajane and Snehaaya’s support she also completed the one-year Nursing Patient Assistant Course. We were overjoyed when she completed her nursing course and employed her at our CFHRC hospital where she is now Senior Nurse. She has become financially independent and able to support her brother.

“I believe that hope and confidence do wonders in the healing process.”
